Holocaust Numbers? can anyone help me out. thanks?

im doing a "movie" project for history class and it has to do with the history of the holocaust... anyways... i was just wondering what the numbers specifically meant and was it only tattoo'd on the jewish people or was it everyone (Gypsy's ect.) who was there that wasnt a nazi?
