How can i get a used car i'm looking to buy checked out by my mechanic?

I'm trying to purchase a used car but the dealer is over an hour away from my home and regular mechanic. What can I do to get this car checked out? The carfax police report said it was involved in a minor acident but the car now looks immaculate. Do I have to find a place near the dealer to do this? I'm just worrid as a non regular they won't take the same care at looking at this car as my regular mechanic would. Please help.
