Why did the exact straight men who hated gays at school, now wanna dress and be like them?

I heard some statistic a while ago about how 70% of homophobic men studied had actually had homosexual thoughts/desires at some point. I don't know about the legitimacy of that and how they found that, but I recall reading something along those lines somewhere. And it is truth; people only act so aggressively when they're trying to convince themselves of something (that they are not).
